Blogging issues: Blogs as current phenomenon & benefits to the community

Blogs are becoming more popular around the internet users and the size of the blogosphere is doubling up by every 200 days or 6 months (Maven, 2006) with the help from Technorati which is one of the companies online that releases the state of blogosphere every year since 2004. According to Technorati (2009), the annual surveys are made to provide growth and trends on the current blogosphere for the public to know by surveying the bloggers directly since 2008.

There are many types of trends that bloggers in the internet have but blogging about technology seems more prevalent to the early adopters or technology bloggers (Brown, 2006).

Mommy bloggers are also one of the latest trends in Europe that is being named by Tokheim (2009). But the trends in Malaysia that uses blogs are fashion, lifestyle, politics, design and technology that is being maneuvered by the top bloggers in Malaysia (Wong, 2009).

As Technorati's surveys are being distributed to the bloggers directly that covers 50 countries and half of the United States, there are four types of categories that consist of hobbyist, part-timers, self-employed and pros (McLean, 2009). But the most prevalent type of blogs in the 50 countries that might include Europe, Asia and Malaysia are hobbyist. This is because most of the bloggers adapts to the 'Pamphleteering Blogs' (Simons, 2008).
