Blogging Issues: Classification of blogs & opinion about the most appropriate classification approach

Blogs are being classified into many different sections and forms that flows with the advancement of technology for the user's experience. User's will usually blog about the latest technology or news that is widely spread across the internet but the ways of interpreting the informations are the difference that differs from other bloggers supported by Jacob (2009).
According to Wikipedia (2009), there are many various types of blogs that are classified through the way it is written such as:
  1. Personal (For example: Twitter, Facebook)
  2. Corporate and Organizational (for business purposes)
  3. By Genre (For example: mom blogs, travel blogs, education blogs, music blogs)
  4. By Media type (For example: vlog, linklog, photolog, tumblelogs)
  5. By Device (For example: Moblog)

Furthermore, tagging is also one of ways of classifying a blog mentioned by Weinberger (2005). As the author could tag the information to share with another user or blogging community.

But according to Simons (2008), the blogs are being classified into 9 types of blogs that includes the combinations of different elements such as pamphleteering blogs, direct blogs, advocacy blogs, popular mechanic blogs, exhibition blogs, gatewatcher blogs, advertising blogs, diary blogs and also news blogs. But I felt that the topic, style and format are the most important factors in a blog to attract more readers.
